Rutger van Oeveren

I'm a Ph.D. candidate in Philosophy at The University of Texas at Austin.

My research lies at the intersection of ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology. One project focuses on our reasons for action in sorites cases—cases in which no single action appears to make a difference, yet many actions together do. Another of my projects focuses on the conditions under which agents are worthy of praise. I also take an active interest in epistemology and social choice theory.

Before pursuing a Ph.D. at UT Austin, I received an M.A. degree (cum laude) from Utrecht University and a B.A. degree (cum laude) from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. I also had a go at classical singing, and hold a B.M. degree from the Amsterdam Conservatory.
